Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact for customers, understanding their needs and matching them with First United Bank products and services.
  • Mentor employees to develop customer relationships and deliver excellent service.
  • Maintain a basic knowledge of all First United Bank products, services, procedures, policies and regulatory issues, including the Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy, Fair Lending, Regulation E, and deposit, transaction and loan accounts.
  • Follow proper procedures accurately and efficiently for all customer‑servicing activities.
  • Retain existing customers and develop new customer relationships.
  • Consistently meet and often exceed performance and sales goals, promoting new products and educating customers and peers.
  • Participate in meetings, bank functions and community events as requested.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by greeting customers, using names, building rapport and fostering loyalty.
  • Identify and match customer product needs, interview customers, and make referrals to ensure needs are met.
  • Open new accounts, certificates of deposit, and ancillary products; manage all required paperwork and system entry.
  • Assist customers with routine inquiries and requests (balance inquiries, statements, check copies, stop payments, holds, online banking, ACH, automatic transfers, direct deposit, wire processing, coin processing, notary services, privacy).
  • Process a variety of transactions quickly with minimal errors, including checks, money orders, bonds, traveller’s checks, cashier’s checks, and loan payments.
  • Maintain appropriate drawer limits, perform cash verifications and vault duties, and verify all transactions with holds as needed.
  • Resolve customer complaints and problems proactively.
  • Review and resolve account issues from insufficient and exception reports, and assist with charge‑off repayment plans.
  • Perform security functions: opening/closing the bank and vault, ensuring safety and security of bank grounds.
  • Master the Primary Purpose and Essential Duties of the Relationship Banker I position.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma strongly preferred; some college strongly preferred.
  • One year of retail experience preferred.
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Superior customer service skills required.
  • Basic mathematics for problem solving.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication with customers and colleagues.
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently.
  • Good judgment and decision‑making ability.
  • Critical thinking: logic and reasoning to identify solutions.
  • Multi‑tasking capability.
  • Professional attitude, appearance, and ethical conduct.
