Cooke County is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented individual for the position of Public Safety Telecommunications Officer. The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED and be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and administrative calls.
  • Forward information via computer aided dispatch (CAD) system to fire departments, rescue squads, police departments, state troopers, constables, wildlife services, sheriff’s personnel, and various law enforcement task forces.
  • Operate emergency and non‑emergency communications systems, obtain necessary information, give callers direction and instruction if needed.
  • Use the Communications Section CAD system to enter and retrieve information from databases such as TCIC/NCIC, Cooke County Computer Systems, NLETS, and other local and state emergency response databases.
  • Process, forward, and maintain records and appropriate logs of all complaints and services requested.
  • Prepare and distribute photocopies of various materials as requested.
  • Confirm warrants and share warrant information with authorities as necessary.
  • Dispatch sheriff department and county personnel, including patrol, criminal investigations, special enforcement unit, transport, state troopers, narcotics, TABC, and game wardens.
  • Monitor and dispatch proper authorities for alarms received from county buildings.
  • Monitor state and national messages through TLETS and NLETS, and track weather and officer safety alerts.
  • Run and enter data in state and national databases for stolen goods, wanted persons, protected persons, missing, runaway, or endangered persons.
  • Track emergency service personnel’s location.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Within 1 year of assignment, must satisfactorily complete the applicable CCSO training program, obtain Telecommunicator Operator certification by the State of Texas, obtain TCIC/NCIC certification by the State of Texas, and achieve acceptable proficiency levels in the computer aided dispatch and Cooke County criminal justice computer system.
