Afternoon Assistant Teacher (Part-Time)

Location: The Learning Experience – Gainesville, VA

Pay: $16–$19 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 2:30 PM–6:30 PM

The Learning Experience – Gainesville is seeking a dependable Afternoon Assistant Teacher to support our preschool and early childhood classrooms during afternoon and dismissal hours. This part‑time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and helping maintain a calm, structured, and engaging end‑of‑day environment.

Our center focuses on school readiness, social‑emotional development, and hands‑on learning in a safe and nurturing setting.

• Support Lead Teachers with afternoon classroom activities and transitions
• Assist with learning centers, small-group activities, and guided play
• Help maintain classroom organization and cleanliness
• Support positive behavior guidance and peer interactions
• Communicate professionally with families during pick‑up
• Prepare classrooms for the following day
• Follow all Virginia licensing and safety standards

• High school diploma or GED required
• Childcare or preschool experience required
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
• Reliable and comfortable working afternoon hours
• Must meet Virginia childcare licensing and background requirements
