Job Description
Dewberry is seeking a Bridge Construction Inspector to work on VDOT projects in the greater Northern Virginia area. To qualify, candidates must have prior construction inspection experience on new VDOT infrastructure and/or repair projects. Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.

- Monitor operations to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract terms and specification
- Review and monitor contractor's plan of operation including phasing
- Advises contractors of violations and reviews and recommends approval of corrective measures
- Identifies necessary changes to construction plans to meet field conditions
- Makes field measurements of pay items and conducts materials testing
- Observes and monitors contractor's construction equipment
- Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, as-built plans, and pay quantity records
- Support CM project managers with coordination and scheduling of field activities
- May coach and/or guide a subordinate group
- Minimum 7 years prior bridge construction inspection experience on VDOT projects required
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification preferred
- ACI Field Grade I Technician certification preferred
- Experience in VDOT Structural Steel erection requirements preferred
- Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations
- Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains
- Ability to repetitively stoop, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 25 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Range
The projected hourly range for this position is $47.00-$57.00 hourly ($98,000-$120,000 annually). Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
