ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/REQUIREMENTS:
An essential function of this position is the ability to work in person and physically report for work on site.
This position plans and implements an instructional program and provides related educational services for students in grades K-5. It manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, modifies instructional activities as required, and performs related duties as assigned. The teacher may work independently in a unique teaching specialty or within a single, team, or departmental setting, and may be assigned to reading or technology labs.
The position is under the general supervision of a principal or other designated administrator.

FULL TIME/PART TIME:
Full-Time
- Implement an instructional program that provides appropriate learning for each student by differentiating instruction.
- Plan and deliver instruction in adherence to Prince William County Curriculum documents for specified teaching assignments.
- Assess student abilities relative to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
- Plan instructional and learning strategies, including classroom organization, materials, and instructional principles.
- Manage behavior of learners to ensure a conducive learning environment; assist and participate in behavior management throughout the school.
- Participate in planning and evaluation of the school program.
- Request assistance from resource personnel and collaborate to create an appropriate learning environment for all students.
- Participate in professional development and growth planning processes.
- Coordinate instructional activities and collaborate with other professional staff to maximize learning opportunities.
- Follow professional ethics and school policies.
- Support and promote parent/teacher or parent/student organizations.
- Enforce policies and regulations set by the Prince William County School Board and staff.
- Supervise student activities during and after school; ensure safety and conduct of students.
- Demonstrate prompt and accurate written communication and reporting.
- Adhere to county and school disciplinary procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors
- Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment for assigned grade levels or instructional specialties.
- Knowledge of child growth and development.
- Knowledge of Prince William County Public Schools curricula, program of studies, mission, goals, and organization.
- Ability to apply current research and theory to instructional programs.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons using the Standards-Based Instructional Planning Process.
- Ability to utilize multimedia and computer technology.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent human relations skills.
- For music instruction, ability to conduct, demonstrate singing or choral techniques, movement, and proficiency on pitched and unpitched instruments, and ability to distinguish pitches and tone quality.
- For visual art instruction, a personal portfolio demonstrating artistic ability and experience in a variety of media.
Education and Experience
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Certification and Licensure
- State:
Collegiate Professional, Post Graduate Professional, or appropriate vocational license issued by Virginia with required endorsements for teaching assignments. - Other:
Valid automobile operator’s license if assigned off-site tasks or itinerant duties.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed indoors in a standard classroom or office. Most duties are performed without exposure to adverse conditions; small inconveniences such as noise and heating/cooling fluctuations may occur. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
