ResponsibilitiesSenior Water Resources Technical Lead
My client is seeking a Senior Water Resources Technical Lead to join their growing team in Gainesville, Virginia. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with approximately 10-20 years of experience who enjoys leading complex technical projects across stream restoration, stormwater, dam safety, and floodplain management while mentoring junior staff and serving as a key technical resource.
The role offers significant flexibility, a strong project backlog, and the opportunity to work on impactful projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Responsibilities- Lead the technical delivery of stream restoration and watershed projects
- Design and review stormwater management (SWM) and BMP facilities
- Conduct dam inspections, O&M certifications, assessments, and rehabilitation design
- Perform floodplain modeling, flood proofing analyses, and H&H studies
- Provide technical oversight, quality assurance, and mentorship to project teams
- Support client relationships, regulatory coordination, and project delivery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and environmental professionals
- 10-20+ years of water resources engineering experience
- Strong experience in several of the following:
- Stream restoration
- Stormwater management and BMP design
- Dam inspections, dam safety, and rehabilitation
- Floodplain modeling and flood proofing
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- PE license preferred
- Proven experience leading projects and mentoring staff
- Hybrid schedule with only one day per week in the office
