Job Summary
The Mechanical Insulator Helper assists journeymen and foremen in installing, maintaining, and removing insulation materials on mechanical systems including piping, ductwork, boilers, and tanks. This position supports energy efficiency, temperature control, and safety standards on commercial and industrial job sites.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in measuring and cutting insulation materials to specifications
- Carry, stage, and organize insulation materials and tools
- Prepare surfaces for insulation application
- Install insulation under supervision on piping, ductwork, and equipment
- Secure insulation with tape, wire, bands, or adhesive
- Remove and dispose of old insulation materials safely
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Follow safety guidelines and OSHA standards
- Operate basic hand and power tools
- Support journeymen and foremen with daily tasks as assigned
- Construction experience but not required
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Basic math and measuring skills
- Willingness to learn the insulation trade
- Valid driver’s license
