Senior Accounting Manager

Hyattsville, Maryland, US. Full‑time hybrid role (3 days in office / 2 remote). Compensation: $125,000–$150,000 base + 10% bonus.

Join a well‑established, privately‑equity‑backed organization in the manufacturing and distribution sector as a Senior Accounting Manager. In this vital role, you will oversee daily accounting operations for one of our key business units and report directly to the VP of Accounting, providing exceptional visibility with senior leadership and substantial opportunities for growth.

• Lead daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, and weekly cash flow forecasting.
• Manage and drive the monthly closing process, focusing on consolidation and segment reporting.
• Ensure the prompt completion and review of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strengthen and maintain a robust internal control environment.
• Work alongside FP&A to enhance performance analysis and operational insights.
• Develop and improve accounting dashboards and KPIs.
• Act as the main point of contact for external, internal, and regulatory audits.
• Support SOX compliance, corporate accounting policies, and banking activities.
• Oversee sales and use tax, regulatory reporting, and insurance administration.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, including staff focused on accounts payable.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance automation.
• Collaborate with operational leaders to drive business performance and growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Controller, or Operating Controller.
• Proven experience in a multi‑site operations environment.
• Strongly preferred background in manufacturing and/or distribution.
• Experience in public accounting and/or PE‑backed or public company environments is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of US GAAP (IFRS exposure is a plus).
• Advanced skills in Excel are required.
• Experience with an ERP system is mandatory (specific systems not required).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, low‑hand holding environment.
