Property Accountant

Cherry Bekaert is partnering with a well-established, growth-oriented real estate firm to identify a Property Accountant to join its expanding accounting team.
Position OverviewThe Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets, including retail and mixed-use properties. This role offers a mix of month-end close, financial reporting, and operational accounting, with visibility into property performance and business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle accounting for assigned property portfolio
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Perform account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Coordinate with property management teams on operating results, CAM reconciliations, and tenant activity
- Assist with audit requests and year-end close activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- 2–10 years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate or property management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related field)
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus, not required
- Experience with property accounting concepts (CAM, reconciliations, lease accounting, etc.) preferred
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/property management systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
