Job Description

A growing engineering consulting and inspection firm is seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) / Structural Steel Inspector to support an expanding portfolio of commercial construction projects throughout the DMV region. • Perform structural steel inspections and testing during erection activities
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Document inspection findings and prepare detailed field reports
• Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
• Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, and test results
• Promote quality, safety, and professionalism on all project sites

• Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 6080 pounds
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as project needs require

• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and structural steel erection
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
• ICC High Strength Bolting Certification required
• ASNT Level II certifications in PT, MT, and UT methods required
• Strong understanding of AWS and AISC specifications
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Reliable transportation suitable for construction site visits

• Experience with additional inspection disciplines including concrete, soils, fireproofing, or related construction materials
• Familiarity with ANSI B31.1, B31.9, and AWS D1.5 standards
