Overview
Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Working with interdisciplinary teams, provides a school culture conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school-related settings. Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and community.
Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands:

Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

- The wage range for this position is between $20.29 and $35.84 per hour. This position does not include benefits.

- Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies.

- Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate to middle school adolescents; integrate reading, writing, math, and technology across content areas.
- Ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and personal interactions for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Commitment to young adolescents as advocates, role models, and supporters of diversity.
- Knowledge and application of the six performance standards for MCPS TP G System and SSPGS.
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learner.
- Certificate:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
