Teacher, Spanish, Lakelands Park MS, 0.6 FTE (260035Z)

Wage range for this position is a salary between $32,295 and $65,736 based on education and experience.

Summary Description

Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students, working with interdisciplinary teams to create a school culture that supports intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development. Supervises middle school students in various school‑related settings, communicates and collaborates with students, staff, parents, and community, develops and differentiates instructional plans and materials, maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement, and monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Special Requirements:
Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, MCPS curriculum and policies, and commitment to high content and high expectations for all learners.

Ability to use a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies, integrate reading, writing, math, and technology throughout content areas, self‑reflect on instructional practices for continuous improvement, work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school‑based staff, students, parents, and community, and demonstrate organizational agility.

Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills, and commitment to young adolescents as advocates, role models, and supporters of diversity (race, ethnicity, gender, developmental differences, learning styles, exceptionalities).

Knowledge and application of the six performance standards of the MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS) and the Supporting Services (SEIU) Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners.

Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
