Teacher, Focus Primary Talent Development Coach + Focus Teacher, Washington Grove ES, No Benefits, 36 hr/wk (26001TW)

This role is a temporary, part-time position covering the Primary Talent Development Coach and focus teacher at Washington Grove Elementary School. The employee will implement the primary talent development module lessons, collect and organize student data, and provide small group instruction/intervention to identified students. The position requires a valid Maryland teaching license in early childhood or elementary education. It is a 7-hour day, in-person role with no benefits.

This requisition is for a long-term substitute position covering the Primary Talent Development Coach and focus teacher at Washington Grove Elementary School. Employee will implement the primary talent development module lessons, collect, and organize student data. As part of the focus teacher position, he/she will provide small group instruction/intervention to identified students.

Under direction of the school principal and the director of the Division of Title I and Early Childhood Programs and Services, plans and provides for strengthening and extending the school system’s existing priority on the development and implementation of rigorous and challenging instruction. Primary talent development coaches promote early and consistent support to students who demonstrate the potential; monitor and evaluate student outcomes;

communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community; develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students; maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices; and monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, Board of Education policies, gifted education and/or primary talent development, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Certificate license:
  Meets Maryland state certification requirements in appropriate field of education.
