The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) Program Director/Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Residence, School of Nursing [R0152624]

ROLE of the POSITION
  • The Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) Program Director/Assistant/Associate/Professor-in-Residence provides vital leadership for the CNM Program track within the MSN program (12-month).
  • The Program Director is responsible for the planning, implementing, evaluating and managing of the CNM specialty track.
  • The Program Director is responsible for advising students in the program.
  • The Program Director will work to orient and mentor other faculty teaching in the program and to develop and evaluate clinical sites.
  • The Program Director will provide support for the viability, quality, legal and professional compliance of the specialty.
  • Specialty coordinators are expected to be role models for clinical scholarship and leadership in the School of Nursing and within their specialty organizations.
  • The Program Director is also expected to:
    Provide overall leadership for the sustainability of the program, including strategic planning for the specialty.
  • Work closely with the Office of Enrollment and Student Affairs and Director of the MSN program to develop CNM Program recruitment and marketing strategies, respond to potential student inquiries; participate in the admission process by interviewing and selecting applicants.
  • Serve as the Academic Advisor to students in their specialty, focusing on issues of certification eligibility, academic progression and retention.
  • Design and provide expert instruction for CNM preparation through didactic, simulation, clinical and innovative approaches.
  • Work with the clinical placement’s office in identifying the specialty’s need for clinical preceptors and site.
  • Ensure clinical site and preceptor information is entered and maintained in shared database including the evaluation of each.
  • Oversee the completion of these functions.
  • Orient new faculty and mentor faculty teaching in the specialty program; identify qualified candidates and nominate preceptors for adjunct faculty positions.
  • Ensure that specialty standards for accreditation of the program and certification of graduates are met.
  • Maintains appropriate programmatic records according to ACME policies including program philosophy, objectives, and master schedule, organizational charts, administrative policies and procedures, budget information, committee meeting minutes, hospital statistics and data, current course outlines, objectives, and student brochure, examinations and testing materials, faculty teaching and time commitment data and self-study records.
  • Complete program and accreditation reports in a timely manner.
  • Articulate faculty needs for the specialty to the MSN Program Director and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs based on number of students, specialty-specific needs, and teaching-learning activities.
  • Participate in MSN Program and Specialty Coordinator meetings as well as Curriculum Committee activities related to course, curricular and program changes.
  • Ensure completion of program evaluation data collection including tracking student outcomes (i.e. performance on certification exams; employment settings), analyze data and propose appropriate programmatic changes.
  • In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs, will recommend for hire, orient and supervise clinical instructors according to number of students enrolled and site placements.
  • Serve as a role model for scholarship in clinical or educational research including evidence-based guidelines, quality improvement, and other projects, and dissemination of results through manuscripts and presentations.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national specialty organizations to be current on environmental issues that may impact the nurse anesthesia program and practice.
  • Maintain specialty certification credentials.
  • Maintain active practice as a CNM.
  • Classes in the School of Nursing are offered year-round, using a trimester sequence.
  • This position is a non-tenure track position.
  • This position is based in Las Vegas and requires on-site work across UNLV campuses and clinical locations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
