Junior Telecommunications Engineer

Location : GL Headquarters – Gaithersburg, MD USA

Job Description

GL is searching for a junior telecommunications engineer to support its Products division. The engineer will build and ship products to customers. The engineer may also provide technical support to customers as needed. The successful candidate should have enthusiasm to learn new technical concepts in the telecommunications industry. The successful candidate must pay attention to detail, especially when building and shipping cutting-edge hardware.

GL possesses a vast product line for testing and analyzing telecommunications networks including Wireless (2G, 3G, 4G LTE, 5G), Ethernet, Analog, and TDM. GL’s products are used by large Service Providers, Defense Contractors, Equipment Manufacturers and Government agencies.

Qualifications:

• Technical degree from an accredited university
• Basic knowledge of telecommunications including TCP/IP (optional)
• Basic technician skills including soldering, building PCs, configuring Windows or Linux OS (optional)
• Knowledge of telecommunications technologies including Analog, TDM, Ethernet or Wireless (optional)

Engineering Design Engineer – Transit Infrastructure

Location : GL Headquarters – Gaithersburg, MD USA

Job Description

Responsible for Engineering design, planning and project management for mid to large transit infrastructure deployments. Supports system assessment efforts;
Preliminary and Final Design Reviews;
Systems implementation and migration efforts;
Systems interface/integration/testing; documenting the pre-implementation conditions of vehicles and facilities;
Implement Configuration Management process;
Conducts and facilitates inspection and testing; logging and reporting daily project activities; work with other engineers, system analysts, programmers, technicians, and managers for existing systems evaluation and system upgrades.

Experience in the following subjects is highly beneficial:

• Communications Systems and Infrastructure - Wired and Wireless
• CCTV and Video Management Systems
• Public Address (PA)
• LED Signs
• Power Systems
• Security and Access Control Systems
• Communications backhaul and IT-Related Infrastructure
• Experience with project schedule development and budget analysis
• ITS, fiber and telecommunications infrastructure knowledge
• Leadership and communication skills
• Management/Supervisory experience a plus

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering

Other requirements for this position are:

• At least 5 years of professional work experience
• Knowledge of CADD Tools – Visio, ACAD, Microstation
• MS Office – Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, and Primavera
• Desired (not required) Professional Engineer license in either electrical (preferred) or civil engineering disciplines
• Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship
• Must be willing to travel locally within the Washington DC metropolitan and Baltimore areas

• Conduct work simplification and measurement studies
• Update and maintain accurate transit administration via in-house data management tool (MAXIMO)
• Prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively
• Design systems and procedures

Qualifications:

• MBA Preferred
• Minimum 3 year working experience in the transportation industry
• 3 years experience working with data
• Ability to use MAXIMO efficiently
• Ability to use MS Office efficiently

Salary Range: $90,000 - $91,000 Annually (package includes excellent full-time job benefits)
