Midlevel Mechanical Engineer

• Work collaboratively with various design engineering execution teams across the US and abroad.
• Under general supervision, perform all aspects of mechanical system design engineering and analysis for assigned systems of responsibility.
• Acquire knowledge of both Black & Veatch and industry standards and implement them in project development.
• Prepare moderately complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop project design recommendations.
• Continue learning and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures; apply them to assigned tasks.
• Develop and apply knowledge independently; comply with Black & Veatch quality program; support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Prepare a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables; perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection; collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work; perform complex calculations following standard methods and principles; understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements; recognize, define, and resolve problems within the assigned area; provide direction and guidance to others.
• Assign tasks to develop entry level professionals and interns; coordinate with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects; interact with other disciplines on design details.
• Understand external client’s interest and drivers through regular interaction and communication; also focus on needs of internal clients and project leadership; provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
• Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
• Assist with performance management process, recognition, and corrective actions as skills develop; actively mentor entry level professionals and interns.

• Experience in instrument and/or service air systems.
• Experience in demineralized (DM) water supply and make‑up systems.
• Experience in service and potable water supply systems.
• Experience in natural, hydrogen, and nitrogen gas supply systems.
• Experience in closed‑cycle cooling water systems.
• Experience with high pressure / intermediate pressure / low / auxiliary steam systems.
• Experience with feedwater and condensate systems.
• Experience with CO2 supply systems.
• Ability to perform pipe sizing, pipe thickness, pump sizing, control valve sizing, heat exchanger sizing, atmospheric tank sizing calculations.
• Experience with P&t.
• Experience with air, gas, water, and steam systems in typical design & engineering work.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search.

• Engineering‑in‑training (EIT)

• This position requires working in a typical office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use; focus and attention to detail throughout the workday are essential.
• Physical tasks may be required during site visits, including crouching, grasping, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, performance, and work assignments.

Annual salary range: $99,324.00 – $. Job Grade: 015.
