Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

We are seeking a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to join our team onsite in Gaithersburg, MD. This role supports the Scientific Services Site Leader by ensuring all site operations comply with safety, health, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Perkin Elmer and client EHS training requirements.
  • Oversee and implement all site-specific EHS aspects of the One Source program.
  • Introduce and enforce new or updated internal safety and environmental policies.
  • Support site safety and environmental audits.
  • Participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Serve as the primary contact for vendors regarding safety and environmental programs.
  • Work closely with vendors to complete EHS plans (Risk Assessments, EHS Checklists) prior to site access.
  • Conduct periodic vendor audits to ensure compliance with all EHS procedures.
  • Collaborate with customer stakeholders (end users, facilities, building managers) to provide vendors with necessary resources and contacts.
  • Assist in the inventory of site instrument safety devices as required.
  • Prepare Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) and issue permits for high-risk work.
  • Coordinate with security on badge access and issue daily passes for vendors.
  • Escort vendors onsite as applicable.
  • Implement new worker safety rules and regulations for site staff and management.
  • Represent the company at customer Site Safety Committee meetings and relay critical information to field personnel.
  • Maintain compliance and training across health, safety, security, environmental, and operational domains.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Health/Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in EHS program management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong team building and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining SOPs.
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at various levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing and implementing EHS programs.
  • Laboratory or biopharma/research environment experience.
