Lead API Developer
Modern data platforms rely on seamless, secure, and scalable data exchange across systems, applications, and mission users. APIs are the backbone of that connectivity—enabling trusted access to data products, supporting system integration, and enforcing governance across the enterprise. In this role you will design and implement the API services that power an enterprise data platform operating in a secure government cloud environment.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs using Mule Soft and AWS cloud-native services.
- Collaborate with data engineers, cloud engineers, security teams, and product owners to build APIs that enable mission systems to ingest, discover, and consume enterprise data.
- Define API standards, enforce governance practices, and ensure the platform supports secure data sharing across the organization.
- Implement integration patterns including real‑time, near‑real‑time, batch, and event‑driven architectures.
- Develop backend services using Java, Python, or Node.js and integrate them with JSON and XML data formats.
- Participate in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe development environments.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures, and implementing RESTful API best practices, including URL design patterns, request and response data formats, service‑level agreements (SLAs), and API security concepts.
- Experience working with API specifications such as OpenAPI, Swagger, or RAML.
- Experience integrating APIs with cloud‑native services in AWS environments.
- Top Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain it.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certification (or equivalent).
- Experience with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience supporting Dev Sec Ops pipelines using Git Lab CI/CD or similar platforms.
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code frameworks.
- Experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, master data management, and enterprise data catalogs.
- Experience with Mule Soft Anypoint Exchange Platform and data product delivery or analytics services.
- Experience integrating APIs with enterprise data platforms or data lakes.

Top Secret clearance is required.
The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $ (annualized USD). Salary is determined by factors such as location, education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements. This posting will close within 90 days from the posting date.
