Responsibilities
- Perform daily system analysis and database management of complex operating systems, application software, database applications, and network protocols.
- Recommend application software source code changes as mandated by user requirements.
- Reconfigure equipment and develop command procedures, scripts, and other software routines required to support new applications, re‑engineered equipment, and/or new uses of defense communications systems.
- Track and report system status.
- Act as the liaison between the customer and the WSOTS management.
- Coordinate with the WSOMS IA coordinator for scheduling software upgrades and releases; confirm patches and fixes are applied and implemented correctly.
- Recommend and implement engineering design changes required to adapt technical requirements.
- Perform on‑site customer training, interface with technical representatives, and provide On‑The‑Job Training (OJT) and informal training support as required.
- Review audit, security, and application logs daily; identify problem areas or trends; take proper action and generate required reports.
- Provide administration support to the site Sipr and Nipr network communication systems.
- Maintain the daily Master Station Log entries.
- Install, test, and provide design change recommendations to OEM software engineers for improvement of new software releases.
- Perform analysis of Risk Management Framework (RMF) Information Assurance (IA) security requirements.
- Perform hardware maintenance and document deficiencies affecting performance or effectiveness.
- Education: Associate Degree in Applied Science. Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of education.
- Certification: IA certification in compliance with DoD 8570; capable of obtaining DoD/NACI IT Level I certification.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship mandatory.
- Experience:
- At least six years of MILSATCOM experience with emphasis on Network Control and Earth Terminal (ET) operations and maintenance.
- Experience managing WSOTS computer networks (LAN/WAN) and Windows System Administration.
- Ability to support the Government IASO in accreditation and certification requirements.
- Experience using IT tools for troubleshooting complex computer networks.
- Proficiency administering and maintaining Windows environments.
- Experience administering and maintaining Sipr and Nipr computers.
- Security Clearance: TOP SECRET.
