Building Service Worker (Shift I)

Under general supervision, performs building cleaning, facilities and grounds maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings. Entry-level position with on‑job training in manual skills and use of cleaning and grounds tools and equipment.

• Maintain cleanliness of interior building spaces.
• Assist with maintenance of grounds and grounds equipment.
• Support emergency personnel duties by reporting to buildings during inclement weather and assisting staff in emergency situations.
• Perform manual labor, lifting and moving heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
• Adhere to safety protocols, proper chemical usage, and building response procedures.

• Completion of ninth grade required;
  High School or GED diploma preferred.
• Experience in general cleaning of buildings and grounds.
• Some knowledge of methods, materials and practices of building and grounds work.
• Ability to operate and maintain custodial and grounds care equipment and approved cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Basic knowledge of emergency facility response procedures.

Sufficient physical strength and freedom from disabling defects to permit lifting and moving heavy objects (minimum 50 lbs.) and perform manual labor. May be required to report to other locations to assist staff in emergency situations. Frequent overtime or night work may be required.
