We are seeking a full-time Material Handler
. The new hire will work in the Hunt Valley Plant
, located in Hunt Valley, MD
. The Material Handler will report to a Team Manager
.
Under general supervision, the Material Handler will operate Bulk Handling Unit (NBE) equipment through a total task, team-based approach. The Material Handler will learn and perform assigned tasks depending on location. Responsible for understanding the Material Processing theory of operations, with the responsibility of making repairs and/or adjustments to equipment, replacement of wearable components, troubleshooting equipment when performing in non-standard condition, all daily responsibility to problem solve for downtime issues.
The incumbent will learn and perform assigned tasks, depending on the specific manufacturing technology that is utilized across our manufacturing sites. This role will contribute to the achievement of company initiatives in order to meet our safety, quality, process reliability, customer service, cost and innovation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- inspect and maintain safety (LOTO) and quality (HACCP / GMP) parameters and specification
- Safe execution of equipment startup and shutdown procedures
- Execute standard setup and changeover of equipment
- Operate equipment within run parameters and process specifications
- Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges
- Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic format (SAP, TrakSYS, ESIS, ASIS, Excel, Manual tracking logs)
- Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity
- Prepare production documents, such as manufacturing batch records, quality records, inventory reports, or productivity reports
- Execute Autonomous Maintenance activities - general cleaning, inspection and lubrication of equipment to prescribed standards
- Detect equipment abnormalities and improve to prevent future equipment deterioration
- Maintain equipment performance through the understanding of equipment structure and functions and able to discover the cause of equipment abnormalities
- Ability to understand the relationship between equipment and quality and can predict quality defects and discover their causes.
- Perform routine maintenance and equipment repair
- Maintain clean, orderly and tour-ready work areas / 5S
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and equipment electrical control systems
- Work independently or with a team and utilize problem solving tools (5 Why) to determine root cause, eliminate losses, and improve processes
- Generate standardized work instructions / One Point Lessons / Job Aids
- Material movement (using manual and Powered Industrial Trucks and equipment)
- Work in confined spaces as required
- Collaborate professionally with Product Development team members and provide feedback on proposed manufacturing instructions and standards
- Coach, mentor and train other technicians
- Assist engineers in developing, building, or testing prototypes or new products, processes or procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years manufacturing or mechanical experience required
- 3 years of manufacturing experience; food manufacturing preferred.
- Team-based work environment preferred.
- SAP experience preferred.
