General Maintenance Worker – St. Inigoes, MD
Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Location: St. Inigoes, MD
Pay Info: $19 - $25/hr plus $5.09/hr Health & Wellness benefit
We are hiring a General Maintenance Worker to support our engineering, testing, prototyping, repair, and production facilities, specifically in the Composites Shop. The primary role involves product prep in the dip room where chemical coatings are applied to various metals.
Responsibilities- Assist workers in skilled maintenance trades by supplying materials and tools, cleaning work areas, machines, and equipment.
- Assist journeymen by holding materials or tools and performing tasks as directed.
- Deliver support tasks such as supplying, lifting, holding materials and tools, cleaning work areas, with the option to perform specialized machine operations or parts of trades as permitted by senior workers.
- Provide product prep skills, particularly with chemical coating processes.
- Obtain overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification within the first 60 days to dip parts into tanks.
- Read and comprehend job orders and technical documentation to ensure proper chemical conversion coatings are applied to the appropriate metals.
- Be proficient with computer operation and update order tracking and work status.
- Prior experience applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications is highly desired.
- Conditions will vary.
- Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
- Will be working in areas with hazardous chemicals and will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
- Some overtime is a requirement of this position.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Formal trade school, college, or military training school highly desired.
- Knowledge of common hand and power tools.
- Minimum of two (2) years of general shop experience, with knowledge of basic power tools.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Solid organizational, computer and communication skills.
- Must have (or be able to obtain within the first 60 days of employment) an overhead crane (CAT III Non-Cab) certification.
- Must be able to read and comprehend job orders and technical documentation to ensure appropriate chemical conversion coatings are applied to proper metals.
- Must be proficient with computer operation and the ability to update order tracking and work status.
- Prior experience applying chemical conversion coatings to various metals according to technical specifications is highly desired.
- Current Maryland Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through the company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
- U.S. Citizenship required and must already have or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
