Director Of Operations

The Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League (CRSCBL) is hiring a Director of Operations. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the league during the season and maintains the structure of league operations during the offseason. This is a part-time position. No benefits are available. The salary range is $15,000 to $25,000. Pay is commensurate with experience. This position is largely seasonal.

20-plus hours per week are required during the season (from mid-May through early August). This includes some travel to games across D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The workload fluctuates during the offseason (mid August through early May), but averages out to about 5 hours of work per week with website updates, intern recruitment, and other tasks.

Qualifications:
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to attend night and weekend events during June and July
  • Understanding of baseball rules, game flow, terminology, and scorekeeping
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience creating and managing social media and website content
  • Ability to manage website pages
  • Personnel management experience preferred
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
Responsibilities:

During the season (mid-May through mid-August):
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the League
  • Manage the League media interns, including assigning and managing projects, reviewing and editing written and visual content, and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere
  • Manage the League website, including adding articles and updating stats, and manage League social media accounts
  • Oversee the League statistics program, including troubleshooting issues during games, reviewing box scores, and making corrections in conjunction with team officials
  • Execute social media and marketing plan to increase League visibility
  • Assist with planning and executing League events, such as the All-Star Game and playoffs
  • Assist the League Commissioner and President with other aspects of the operations as needed
During the offseason (late August through early May):
  • Update League website and social media, including publishing news stories, updating historical pages, etc.
  • Develop and execute League marketing plan
  • Recruit, hire, and train League summer interns. This includes interviewing candidates, extending offers, and holding training sessions before the season
  • Attend and help manage monthly League board meetings
  • Oversee design of the League annual report program
  • Assist the League Commissioner and President with other aspects of the operations as needed
