Position Summary

The career of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in skilled nursing involves providing direct care to patients in our long-term care or rehabilitation facility. The role focuses on compassionate, high‑quality care.

Essential Duties
  • Abides by and adheres to sanitary conditions using universal precautions: frequent hand washing, wearing appropriate gloves, etc.
  • Maintains uniform in a clean sanitary condition following guidelines of Simpson dress code policy.
  • Always follows Resident Rights.
  • Answers resident call bells promptly and efficiently.
  • Maintains resident rooms are clean and orderly.
  • Assists with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other daily activities as needed.
  • Mediates vital signs: blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate.
  • Assists with mobility using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids as needed.
  • Assists with rehabilitation, working with physical or occupational therapists to help patients with exercises or other rehabilitation activities.
  • Documents patient care accurately and timely, including vital signs, daily care activities, and any changes in patient condition.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and families, including listening to concerns and providing reassurance.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, ensuring rooms are free from hazards.
  • Follows facility policies and procedures to ensure consistent, high‑quality care.
  • Communicates with other healthcare providers—nurses, physicians, and therapists—to coordinate care.
  • Provides appropriate post‑mortem care.
  • Enforces proper safety precautions with oxygen therapy.
  • Participates in professional development: ongoing training and continuing education per state regulation each calendar year.
  • Utilizes Relias Training online to update skills and continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education or Degree

Required:

HS Diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED). Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.

Licenses, Certifications, Registrations
  • Nursing Assistant Certification issued by PA Department of Health
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • AED Certification (Preferred)
Related Skills and Experience

Minimum 1 year experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
