Community Health Nurse Contractual

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full‑time contractual position is to provide comprehensive school nursing services to students and staff of Dorchester County Public Schools.

• Medication administration
• Skilled nursing treatments
• Age appropriate health screenings
• Assessment and care of the sick or injured
• Health record maintenance
• Immunization reviews
• Case management of chronic health concerns
• Care plan development
• Multidisciplinary team participation

• Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurse.

  • Current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland may be required if duties include driving.
• Special Requirements: Provide a telephone number at which the employee can be reached.

Contractual employees working 30 or more hours per week (or an average of 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. Employees pay 25% of the premiums for medical and prescription coverage; the State of Maryland covers the remaining 75%. Employees may elect additional coverage for dental, accidental death, dismemberment, and life insurance, but must pay the full premiums.

Leave may be granted at one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
