Position: Postdoctoral Fellow (PREP0004210)

Position Overview

PREP Research Associate – CHIPS Funded Project. This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience Program (PREP). The program involves research staff collaborating with academic institutions on specific projects, requiring an institution to receive a PREP award. Individuals in this position will perform technical work supporting the collaboration’s scientific research.

The Work Will Entail

This PREP position focuses on developing traceable on-wafer standards for 5G, 6G and beyond. The role requires finite element simulations, programming, network analysis, dimensional metrology, web-based programming and other skills. The position will use on-wafer methods to develop standards for the mmWave industry to validate the authenticity of integrated circuits.

Key Responsibilities
  • The PREP student will coordinate stakeholder engagement to understand industry needs and provide regular updates to solicit feedback.
  • The PREP student will design, simulate and assemble on-wafer electronics for mmWave test and measurement.
  • After the measurement systems are integrated, the PREP student will perform all measurements and analyze the data.
  • In coordination with a NIST researcher, the PREP student will develop and carry out on-wafer metrology.
Qualifications
  • PhD degree in Materials Science Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with microelectronic fabrication.
  • Familiarity with programming in MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience with finite element simulations in ANSYS or COMSOL.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, including the candidate’s geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
