Job Description & How to Apply Below
E-logic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantum Research Scientist to serve as a designated Key Personnel member supporting National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
QNAP Group. The primary objective of this role is to develop foundational quantum networking protocols, advanced measurement techniques, and specialized tools to accelerate the commercialization and adoption of next-generation quantum communications technologies.
- Lab Establishment: Plan research initiatives and develop the foundational infrastructure for a new Quantum Engineering Laboratory dedicated to network metrology experiments. Provide instrument procurement recommendations and execute setups for quantum devices.
- Entanglement Swapping Experiments: Develop indistinguishable entangled sources and optimize pulse widths and spectral performance. Perform two-photon interference between independent sources to evaluate visibility and source quality.
- Laser Stabilization: Develop miniature, ultra-stable lasers at 1550 nm, stabilizing them to NIST-designed, rugged, small-footprint cavities. Evaluate phase noise, spectral width, and coherence length.
- Collaboration & Training: Conduct a weekly one-hour instructional class on "information in photons" to train junior staff on advanced quantum networking concepts. Collaborate with internal and external scientists.
- Reporting & Dissemination: Prepare comprehensive monthly progress reports, document infrastructure plans, and present data/results at scientific conferences or publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Education: Ph.D. in Quantum Physics.
- Core
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience conducting complex quantum physics experiments. - System Design: Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the independent design, efficient implementation, and rigorous testing of all aspects of quantum systems.
- Phase Stabilization: Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience working directly with quantum apparatus control and stability for phase characterization and stabilization.
- Hardware Development: Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in quantum hardware development specifically tailored for quantum networking experiments.
This role is part of a proposal for National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
QNAP Group. Hiring is contingent upon the selection of the consultant. Selected candidates will be included in the proposal and must authorize the use of their resume for submission.
