Position Summary

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. Communicates with customer to answer questions, resolves problems, and ensures complete customer satisfaction. Promotes products and services to customer. Works under the direction of the Field Supervisor or General Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls under general supervision
  • Analszes, diagnoses, and resolves customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner
  • Diagnoses and services heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories
  • Inspects equipment and performs diagnostics to identify potential problems to prevent breakdowns or callbacks
  • Completes routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed or required
  • Responsible for delivery and removal of parts and equipment needed to complete service work
  • Uses handheld device to record information on customer calls; completes forms and paperwork neatly and accurately; collects payment from customer
  • Communicates with dispatch to provide status reports of activities and availability
  • Delivers excellent customer service and sustains high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Promotes products and services and communicates replacement product sales leads to Sales/Service Coordinator
  • Ensures company property, vehicles, and tools are maintained and accounted for
  • Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically
  • Follows standard procedures; ensures vehicle is stocked; returns defective warranty parts; orders/replenishes stock as needed
  • Performs similar/other duties as needed or assigned
Health & Safety
  • Reports unsafe acts, conditions and hazards to supervisor immediately
  • Corrects substandard acts or conditions within area of control
  • Uses and maintains appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed
  • Prevents removal or negation of safety guards or devices
  • Complies with general company rules and procedures
  • Operates devices or equipment as prescribed
  • Participates in safety initiatives, teams, or committees
  • Reports injuries or incidents promptly
  • Contributes to developing safety initiatives to eliminate exposure to accidents
  • Maintains safe conduct and avoids unsafe pranks or behavior
  • Works in compliance with applicable laws
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with 1-2+ years HVAC experience; technical training certification required
  • Valid licensing or certification as required by local laws
  • EPA and safety certifications required
  • Skilled at servicing heating, air conditioning, ventilation equipment and related accessories
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tools and equipment
  • Proficient reading of wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant and duct systems
