Carpenter – Residential Maintenance

The Carpenter’s responsibilities include installing and servicing carpentry work such as doors, windows, decks, and other wood components. The role requires adherence to safety guidelines, documentation of projects, and familiarity with local code. The Carpenter diagnoses issues, determines whether to replace or repair, and provides excellent customer service with detailed notes.

Responsibilities
  • Complete carpentry‑related work orders in residential homes.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and replace wooden components of homes to ensure safe and efficient systems.
  • Perform finish and rough carpentry service and installs.
  • Install, repair, and finish drywall.
  • Replace or repair various wooden components, including doors, windows, fences, subfloors, decking, etc.
  • Work with maintenance staff to train and educate teammates.
  • Document each project and provide written reports; communicate findings to the Facility Director and tenants.
  • Acquire knowledge or willingness to learn basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general maintenance.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or leadership.
Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • At least 2–4 years of experience as a carpenter, performing rough and finish carpentry.
  • Interpreting blueprints and drawing rough sketches when required.
  • Guiding and overseeing other technicians.
  • Implementing preventative maintenance measures and communicating them to tenants and technicians.
  • Testing and troubleshooting doors, decks, windows, and other carpentry‑related portions of homes.
  • Updating project records and preparing relevant documents and reports for tenants.
  • Liaising with clients, vendors, and other maintenance teammates.
  • Speaking intelligently about building codes and requirements.

Required Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant license or certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills And Abilities:

  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and telephonic communication.
  • Experience with power tools and other construction equipment.
  • Firm grasp of health, safety, and building codes.
  • Patience when teaching apprentices.
Working Conditions

Work will be completed in both occupied and vacant residential homes.

Salary Range

$25.00 – $28.00 per hour
