Description Lead Sprayer — Spray Foam Crew Lead

Company: Terra Insulation Location: Washington, DC Metro Area Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $25.00 per hour

About Terra Insulation

Terra Insulation is a home energy audit and insulation company serving the greater DC area. We help homeowners cut energy costs, improve comfort, and tighten up their homes with professional-grade insulation work. We're building out a new spray foam installation team, and we're looking for an experienced lead to run the crew and set the standard for quality and safety on every job.

The Role

As our Lead Sprayer
, you'll be the senior installer and crew lead on spray foam jobs. You'll run the rig, apply the foam, and direct a small crew through job prep, application, and cleanup. This is a hands-on leadership role: you're spraying alongside your team while making sure the work is done right, safely, and on schedule. If you know SPF inside and out and can lead from the front, we want to talk to you.

What

You'll Do
  • Operate, set up, and maintain the spray foam rig and proportioner, including managing chemical temperatures, pressures, and proper A-side/B-side mix ratios.
  • Apply open-cell and closed-cell spray polyurethane foam to walls, attics, crawl spaces, rim joists, and other assemblies to spec.
  • Lead a small crew on-site: assign tasks, set the pace, and keep the job moving from prep through final cleanup.
  • Prep job sites properly, including masking, covering, and protecting surfaces, fixtures, and adjacent areas.
  • Inspect finished work for coverage, thickness, adhesion, and overall quality, and correct any issues before leaving the site.
  • Enforce all safety protocols, including PPE, supplied-air or respirator use, ventilation, and proper handling of chemicals.
  • Maintain spray guns, hoses, and equipment daily, and troubleshoot common rig and proportioner issues in the field.
  • Track and manage material inventory on the truck and flag reorders before you run short.
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and the office, including walking customers through the work and answering questions.
  • Keep the truck and equipment organized, stocked, and ready for the next job.
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of hands-on spray foam application experience (open-cell and closed-cell).
  • Prior experience leading or directing a crew on residential or commercial jobs.
  • Solid understanding of SPF chemistry basics — mix ratios, temperatures, pressures, and how environmental conditions affect a pour.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting and maintaining proportioners, guns, and hoses.
  • Strong commitment to job-site safety and proper PPE use.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (you may be operating company vehicles).
  • Reliable, on time, and able to lead by example.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift and carry 50+ lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and tight or confined areas.
  • Able to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and work in protective gear for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions.
What We Offer
  • $25.00 per hour
, with room to grow as you take on more responsibility.
  • Full-time, year-round work with a growing company.
  • The chance to lead and shape a brand-new spray foam crew from the ground up.
  • A team that takes pride in doing the job right.
