The main purpose of this position is to repair and maintain the site electrical distribution systems as well as the electrical power, lighting, and specialty systems for Springfield Hospital Center buildings and grounds in order to maintain a safe and dignified environment for patients and staff. This position will be part of an emergency on‑call rotation and is designated as emergency essential.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Completion of eighth grade.
Experience: Five years of experience installing, repairing, testing and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and control devices at commercial or residential buildings or other facilities.
- Candidates may substitute additional experience as described on a year‑for‑year basis for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited vocational or technical high school or other vocational or technical school with a concentration in electricity for three years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non‑commissioned officer in construction electrician classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in the installation and repair of electrical systems, on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
- Employees in this classification who are assigned to facilities that mandate licensed electricians must possess a current license as a Master Electrician or other appropriate electrician license from a local board or from the Maryland State Board of Master Electricians, 500 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore, Maryland .
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
- Employees in this classification may be subject to call‑in 24-h a day and may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
- Employees in this classification who are designated as Level I or Level II employees shall attend and successfully complete the appropriate asbestos safety and health training as required by Executive Order
