Direct Support Professional

About the Role:

Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in Gaithersburg, MD. This is a rewarding Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM position where you'll make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities every single day. • Provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and daily routines
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
• Facilitate community integration, vocational activities, and social skill development
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, programs, and community outings
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members
• Respond appropriately to behavioral support needs and crisis situations

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  
  Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and person-centered approach
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications (training may be provided)
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance
