The SFP Facilitator implements the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program. Services include facilitating the evidence-based curriculum groups for parents and children, conducting evaluation, and initiating follow-up with participants to assure they are achieving group objectives. This program runs in 14-week cycles, each cycle targets a different demographic. For the Hispanic cycle, the SFP Facilitator is required to be bilingual in Spanish/English.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Maximum of Eight)- Responsible for implementing the Strengthening Families Program curriculum and activities as written by the program developer.
- Facilitate weekly group sessions at community site.
- Prepare materials for weekly group sessions to assure implementation of SFP model.
- Assist in site set up for parent and children’s groups.
- Participate in weekly debriefing sessions with other group leaders to assure model fidelity, resolve problems and issues, and promote on-going program quality.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe environment with appropriate activities for children of families participating in the Strengthening Families Program.
- Assist with evaluation component.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and staff development activities, as required.
- Must attend the Strengthening Families Program train-the-trainer workshop to obtain facilitator certification within one month of employment.
- Perform other such duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bilingual in Spanish/English to facilitate the Hispanic cycle.
- Knowledge regarding child development, parenting skills, behavior management, and group dynamics.
- Ability to be a positive role model to families.
- Ability to facilitate groups of parents and/or children.
- Exhibit organizational and writing ability to facilitate the maintenance of accurate and complete records.
- Skill in working effectively with young people.
- Knowledge and skills regarding needs assessment, program design, decision making, implementation and evaluation.
A Bachelor’s Degree in human services field preferred, or at-least one year of documented experience working with youth and families.
Valid Virginia Driver’s License and copy of DMV safe driving record required.
