The Peer Specialist in a Recovery House provides general supervision and peer support interventions to the residents (peers) and the overall operation of the recovery home that meets National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) and Agency standards. The Peer Specialist is an advocate and will assist in maximizing individuals’ choices and decision making in the recovery process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.Collaborate with individuals to identify needs for recovery supports and develop recovery plans, assisting individuals in implementing those plans.
2.Assist in the oversight of daily operations and supervision of the house and residents.
3.Provide concrete assistance to help individuals accomplish tasks such as obtaining transportation, employment, healthcare, and other life skills.
4.Conduct group interventions to engage individuals both during and after their stay.
5.Provide ongoing observation of the individual’s progress and response to treatment and communicate with the treatment team.
6.Complete documentation according to agency, state, and DMAS guidelines.
OTHER DUTIES(If Applicable)
- Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Self-knowledge to manage own recovery process.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Basic computer skills.
- Skills to establish supportive relationships with individuals of services.
Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use disorders and twelve (12) months of sustained recovery.
Applicant must have passed Peer Certification Exam or be eligible to sit for the exam within six (6) months of hire.
