Description:
This position involves providing care in a Tele Intermediate unit. The unit has 26 beds and operates with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5. Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachycardia/bradycardia syndrome, and syncope. Patients may receive treatments such as Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitroglycerin. No ventilator support is provided; however, Bipap, CPAP, and Vapotherm are used.
A hospitalist is available during daytime hours, followed by an advanced practice nurse with e-hospitalist support overnight. Pharmacy services are available 24/7, with nursing staff not responsible for medication preparation. Shifts run from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Floating to other units is expected, with the same patient care ratios applicable. Orientation includes one hospital orientation shift and two unit orientation shifts, covering both day and night shifts.
Nursing staff will be expected to work every other weekend and every other holiday. Scrub color is not specified; staff may wear their own scrubs. Charting is conducted using the EPIC system. This role is set in an acute care setting with a trauma level of 2.
