Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Galesburg, IL

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a 37-bed Medical Surgical unit with a night shift patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Monitor and respond to telemetry events as communicated by central monitor technicians; manage patients on Lasix and Heparin drips
• Care for patients presenting with diagnoses including COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and post-surgical conditions such as hip/knee procedures, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resections
• Manage patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy (no ventilator patients on unit)
• Collaborate with APN in-house coverage and eHospitalist support available during night shift
• May float to other floors when competency requirements are met, assuming a full patient assignment

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Compliance with a drug-free workplace policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels
• Experience with EPIC EMR

• Prior Medical Surgical nursing experience, particularly with post-surgical and telemetry patient populations
• Familiarity with drip management (Lasix, Heparin) in a Med-Surg setting
• Experience caring for patients on BiPAP, CPAP, or high-flow oxygen

• Access to 24/7 Respiratory Therapy support, around-the-clock pharmacy resources, and consistent charge nurse availability to support clinical staff
• Self-scheduling options and block scheduling accommodations are pursued where possible within contract requirements
