The City of Galion is seeking a Wastewater Plant Assistant Superintendent for our Class III Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This exempt, unclassified position is responsible for assisting the superintendent in overseeing and directing the day-to-day activities and operation of the wastewater treatment plant and its staff to ensure regulatory compliance. In addition, the candidate will provide any backup required, including: ensuring the efficient operation of the facility and all components of the wastewater treatment process; assisting the superintendent in coordinating and preparing operation and maintenance reports as needed;

supervising and performing related preventive and maintenance repairs; and providing staff leadership. In addition, the candidate will help manage the industrial pretreatment and MS4 programs and serve as the backup operator of record with the Ohio EPA.

Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and strong mechanical knowledge are required, along with a Class III Water Reclamation (Wastewater) license and supervisory experience. A Class II license will be considered if eligible for a Class III; a Class III will be required within one year of employment. Per ordinance 2023-12, salary range is $37,921 - $100,486. In keeping with our municipal compensation practices, placement within the range will be based on qualifications and experience.

Most appointments should expect to fall within the low-mid $80,000 range. Full benefits package is also included. This is a M-F, first shift position with some flexibility in schedule. Some holidays will be required.

Qualifications

A Class III Wastewater/Water Reclamation license and supervisory experience. A Class II license will be considered if eligible for a Class III; a Class III will be required within six months of employment.
