RESPONSIBILITIES

Support coordination of events, programs, meetings, and initiatives included in Chamber priorities related to Public Policy, Workforce Development, and Administration, including monthly Headliners luncheons, Pancakes & Politics, Politics & Pints, legislative/policy initiatives, lobbying trips, education and workforce programs, Breakfast with the Chair, Board meetings, and Executive Committee meetings.

Event coordination can include securing sponsors, scheduling speakers, serving as the main contact with venues, preparing scripts/agendas, invoicing, follow-up on accounts receivables, and other related logistics.

Meeting coordination can include providing selecting dates, securing locations, creating calendar notices and reminders, creating agendas and meeting presentation slides, room set-up, arranging for catering, sending invitations and reminder emails, creating name badges, tracking attendance, and drafting meeting minutes.

Research and monitor business-related policy topics during the regular and special state legislative sessions as well as assist with identifying and monitoring local and federal issues.

Support and coordinate monthly committee meetings, task forces, and councils including, but not limited to Downtown Redevelopment, Healthcare, Legislative, Transportation, Natural Resources, and Education & Workforce Partnerships committees, among others.

Work closely with the Chamber’s Communications/Marketing staff on the development of event and program materials including flyers, e-blasts, social media posts, web and video content, and content for the bi-monthly Current magazine.

Utilize the Chamber’s membership and events Chamber Master database for events and activities including committee rosters and attendance, event registration management, and financial tracking.

This position will also work with the Chamber’s Workforce Partnerships staff, when available and when needed, to support Chamber education/workforce programs.

Attend Chamber events and programs as deemed appropriate including all-staff opportunities to support major events, programs, and initiatives.

Responsible for additional special projects/other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENT

Excellent customer service mindset with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work on multiple events, projects, initiatives, meeting logistics simultaneously with accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Excellent organizational skills and time management, an independent self-starter, skilled in persistence, fostering collaboration, and motivating team members, Chamber members, and volunteers to actively contribute.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, comfortable with database management and Word Press, and ability to learn software programs including Constant Contact and Chamber Master.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with public officials and/or state and local government agencies and/or non-profit experience.

JOB LOCATION AND HOURS
This position is based out of the Chamber’s Bradenton office with the ability to occasionally flex time working at the Chamber’s Lakewood Ranch office as agreed upon. The position also requires travel to Chamber and Chamber Foundation events and programs at offsite locations primarily in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Some duties/events/projects/meetings require work outside the standard 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM office hours.
