Adjunct Instructor- Sociology; Pool

Job Summary

This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.

• Teach courses via on‑ground, online, hybrid or web‑enhanced modalities as assigned; also teach evening, weekend, off‑campus, dual‑enrollment and distance‑based courses as required.
• Submit class syllabus or update the department syllabus at least two weeks prior to the first day of class, or within seven days of contract execution.
• Regularly check your VSCC email and departmental mailbox; respond to emails/messages within 48 hours, except on the weekend.
• Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
• Complete required college trainings, attendance and early‑alert reports, progress reports, grade submissions and required surveys.
• Advise the Department Chair at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class.
• Attend meetings as requested by the Department Chair and/or Dean.
• Comply with all college and T  policies and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in Sociology from an accredited institution; or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Sociology from an accredited institution.

• Collegiate‑level teaching experience.

• Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

$650 – $775 per credit hour.

Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis. Review occurs when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are term‑by‑term, including fall, spring, and summer. Postings close yearly on October 31.
