Job Summary
This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies.
Job Duties- Teach courses via on‑ground, online, hybrid or web‑enhanced modalities as assigned; also teach evening, weekend, off‑campus, dual‑enrollment and distance‑based courses as required.
- Submit class syllabus or update the department syllabus at least two weeks prior to the first day of class, or within seven days of contract execution.
- Regularly check your VSCC email and departmental mailbox; respond to emails/messages within 48 hours, except on the weekend.
- Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar.
- Complete required college trainings, attendance and early‑alert reports, progress reports, grade submissions and required surveys.
- Advise the Department Chair at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Department Chair and/or Dean.
- Comply with all college and T policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in Sociology from an accredited institution; or a Master’s degree plus 18 graduate hours in Sociology from an accredited institution.
- Collegiate‑level teaching experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
$650 – $775 per credit hour.
Availability / Closing DateApplications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted on a continuous basis. Review occurs when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are term‑by‑term, including fall, spring, and summer. Postings close yearly on October 31. To maintain your application within the system, you will need to re‑apply each year.
