Job SummaryThis position is responsible for the operation of faculty and staff workstations and computer labs on the Volunteer State Community College campuses. This job requires software installation, hardware installation, implementation of security, program modification, and troubleshooting of both Apple and Windows operating systems. It also requires knowledge of desktop and application virtualization and travel to off campus locations. The position manages the hardware/software inventory logistics for the college.
Job DutiesInstall, relocate, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, and repair a broad range of networked and non-networked client hardware devices and software applications. Build, maintain and deploy computer images. Maintain accurate hardware and software inventories. Research and evaluate software packages and operating systems. Modify applications to disable potentially dangerous features. Respond to emergency situations as needed. Administer computer labs. Work with minimal supervision and make decisions within college policies.
Work weekends or unusual hours occasionally. Communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. Evaluate and recommend hardware devices and software applications for compatibility. Manage an IT Service Management (ITSM) system that tracks all software/hardware assets. Other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree in a computer-related discipline OR high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of client support in an Active Directory environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Microsoft and/or Apple certifications.
- Experience with SCCM and MECM Client Management suites.
- Experience with Macintosh OS X and Apple iOS.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications.
- Basic knowledge of networking, Active Directory, and server principles.
- Ability to diagnose computer-related problems utilizing industry best practices, troubleshooting techniques, analytical skills and vendor support.
- Enthusiasm for working in a team environment and supporting a varied constituency.
- Good problem solving, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technology skills quickly.
- Working experience with Microsoft Access.
$42,031 - $50,437 annual salary depending on experience.
