About the Director of Technology
The Isaacson Foundation (Empower Ministry) is a faith-based, non-profit organization on a mission to develop quality people to equip Christian leaders to live out their God-given potential to advance the Kingdom. This role ensures that Empower Ministry remains on the cutting edge of technology to advance its mission.
The Director of Technology owns the development and ongoing optimization of an integrated technology suite focused on UI/UX and high-powered, AI-enabled search capabilities to equip ministry leaders with resources to succeed. This position architects and manages Empower Ministry’s digital infrastructure—from internal collaboration systems to public-facing platforms—while cultivating innovation, data-driven decision-making, and seamless user experiences.
They also champion a best-in-class digital presence for Empower Ministry that drives awareness and utilization of resources.
This role requires a balance of strategic foresight, technical expertise, and people leadership to ensure technology effectively supports ministry growth, engagement, and operational excellence.
As part of a start-up organization and team, the Director of Technology is expected to be hands‑on with all roles and responsibilities, developing a team and delegating as capacity and resources warrant.
Ideally this candidate has 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior management role.
Travel is expected approximately once per month.
The Director of Technology’sResponsibilities Include:
Resource Center Management
- Plan and architect a technology suite for ministry teams that integrates the functionality of an intranet, a learning management system, and a digital asset management system—which can be scaled for additional integrations and future growth.
- Ensure the role-based user interface and user experience of the technology suite drive technical and design decisions.
- Optimize mobile user interface and experience for technology suite—through mobile-friendly designs and applications.
- Track engagement using analytics and user feedback; enhance technology accordingly.
- Strategically build and continuously optimize website, social channels, directory listings, and other aspects of the foundation’s digital presence, in partnership with the marketing team and other partners.
- Continuously improve the architecture, performance, functionality, and usability of the foundation’s sites, focusing on UI/UX.
- Proactively identify and execute opportunities to expand and improve digital presence—driving awareness and traffic to sites and the Resource Center.
- Lead ownership of technology strategy, governance, roadmap, and budget—internally and ministry-facing.
- Source and implement best-in-class tools and develop in-house solutions as internal and ministry-facing needs evolve.
- Ensure seamless integrations across platforms.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics/indicators; refine as needed.
- Until capacity warrants delegation (at which point, oversee), technical management and optimization of the following:
- Desktop support and endpoint operations (Windows/Mac, printers, mobile devices, onboarding/offboarding, SLAs).
- IT security (MFA, least-privilege access, monitoring, incident response).
- Backup and recovery practices (cloud backups, retention policies, restore validation, disaster recovery planning).
- Digital presence.
- Intranet.
- Learning management system.
- Digital asset management.
- Mobile applications.
- Mass communication support.
- A.I. solutions.
- Collaboration systems and tools.
- Other technologies as needs evolve.
General Management
- Manage team recruitment, mentorship, skills development, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Maintain strong, productive relationships with staff, vendors, partners, stakeholders, board, and ministry leader network.
- Vet key technology decisions with industry experts and ministry leaders.
- Maintain alignment with the organization’s brand across all technology touchpoints.
- Provide technical assistance to stakeholders.
