Painter and Body Work Technician
This full-time role focuses on auto body preparation and industrial painting of production parts in a dedicated paint and finishing area. Operate sanding and grinding equipment, use pressurized paint guns, and follow strict safety and respirator requirements while producing high-quality finishes.
Responsibilities- Prepare auto body and production parts for painting, including sanding (wet and dry), cleaning, and surface conditioning.
- Operate sanding equipment, grinders, and other tools to achieve smooth, paint-ready surfaces.
- Set up, operate, and maintain pressurized paint guns and spray equipment for consistent, high-quality finishes.
- Perform auto body paint work, including one-stage paint applications and industrial spray painting in a paint booth.
- Follow established paint prep and application procedures to meet quality, safety, and production standards.
- Work within a painting and production finishing area to complete final finishing on products before shipment.
- Pass and maintain compliance with a Respirator Fit Test and wear an N95 respirator while performing painting and prep work.
- Participate in an on-site paint test during the hiring process to demonstrate painting and finishing skills.
- Use power tools safely and efficiently, adhering to all shop safety rules and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members across cutting, forming, welding, fabrication, and finishing areas to support smooth workflow.
- Ability to operate wet and dry sanders for auto body and industrial paint preparation.
- Ability to set up and use pressurized paint guns and spray equipment safely and effectively.
- Experience with auto body work, including sanding, paint prep, and auto body painting.
- Skill in spray painting and industrial painting, including work in a paint booth environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with one-stage paint systems and related finishing processes.
- Experience using a variety of power tools in an auto body or industrial painting environment (preferred but not required).
- Background in spray gun operation for auto body paint, industrial painting, or production finishing.
- Ability to work effectively in a job shop environment with multiple production areas and changing priorities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gallatin, TN.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $33.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
