Job Title

Primary Key Responsibilities

  • Setup, programming, adjustment and operation of laboratory equipment and instruments such as vision system, microscopes, metallograph, mounting press, balance scales, tension/compression force tester, salt spray cabinets, electronic torque drivers, and other test equipment
  • Tests materials/products for physical properties (hardness testing, metallurgical properties, and etc)
  • Prepare and test samples using metallographic techniques to assure manufactured products conform to specifications
  • The use of Measurlink software (SPC charts, X-Bar R Charts, Histograms, Control limits, etc)
  • Basic computer skills will be necessary (Microsoft Excel, Word, Email, etc.)
  • Records test results on standardized forms and enter data into applicable database
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment
  • Maintains calibration on all measuring and test equipment used throughout the plant including retaining certifications on file
  • Ordering of supplies used for various tests
  • Must be able to review, interpret and apply industry standards (ASTM, etc.) and or customer specifications
  • Must be able to have a grasp of the following items: first article, in process, final and receiving inspections, will perform different levels of audits
  • The use and knowledge of hand tools used for inspection such as calipers, micrometers, scales, and conversion charts and etc.
  • The use of comparators and vision systems. (Keyence IM, TM-X)
  • Perform dock audits, extended stress testing, PPAP layouts
  • Knowledge in SPC data analysis
  • Perform 5S responsibilities
  • Preparing and presenting quality audit reports to senior management.
  • The use of Rockwell hardness testers, the knowledge of and or basic understanding of GD & T and Blueprint reading, as well ISO/TS16949 & ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Cross-train with department co-workers to increase the knowledge, flexibility, and efficiency of the overall ITW team.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or a Certification program for metallurgy, metallograph, or metrology preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years in manufacturing environment of quality assurance/control experience
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, indicators, thickness gages, thread gages, optical comparator, vision measurement system, torque testers, force testers, and Rockwell hardness tester.
  • ASQ certification preferred
  • Experience with operating a forklift
  • Moderate to high computer knowledge
  • Great organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effectively communicate in a professional demeanor when dealing with the public or any level of employees.
  • Ability to safely work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert measurements between units preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently
  • Ability to work overtime
