Position: STREET LABORER W/ CDL
Job Description

GENERAL

PURPOSE:

Operates trucks dump trucks and equipment in a wide variety of Public Works maintenance and construction tasks including snow removal operations hauling men and materials hauling dirt to and from construction sites spreading sand rock and other construction material etc. Operates port-a-patch machine shovels asphalt operates steel wheel roller compactor loaders oil distribution trucks and other equipment as assigned. Uses a variety of hand tools shovels rakes pitchforks hand saws jacks lug wrenches etc.

in performing manual labor assignments. Sweeps streets gutters and alleys and repairs curbs gutters and sidewalks. Operates small pumps and builds drop inlets. Prepares grade for paving machines pours concrete fills pavement cracks with asphalt and shovels asphalt paving mix in repair and construction of streets. Operates compressors jack hammers concrete saws cement mixers and other equipment in the construction and repair of streets.

Sets forms and pours concrete. Performs other laboring and maintenance tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor or crew leader. Required to perform emergency call back duties outside the normal working hours weekends and holidays and must respond within thirty (30) minutes to "call out". Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate and safety and security standards.

Additional Information

STARTING HOURLY PAY: $16.43 P/H

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

* Two (2) years of experience in performing manual work, preferably in construction, streets, grounds maintenance or comparable occupation.

* Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B (state of residence) with Medical Certification. Must meet City's insurability requirements.
