Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE:

This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico's Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & Education Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face‑to‑face and/or online lower‑division courses (1000/2000 Level) during the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 semesters in the following anticipated potential areas:

  • English 1110 (Composition I)
  • English 1110Z (Enhanced Composition)
  • English 1120 (Composition II)
  • English 2120 (Intermediate Composition)
  • English 2210 (Professional and Technical Communication)

UNM Gallup is a two‑year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. It offers community education programs, career and technical education including certificate and associate degree programs, and transfer programs that prepare students for upper‑division entry into colleges and universities.

Within the Liberal Arts & Education Division, we seek a qualified temporary part‑time faculty member to teach lower‑division classes in the courses or topics listed above.

Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching, including but not limited to meeting with the class during assigned times (face‑to‑face, evenings or weekends), content delivery, assignment development, grading, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester, determined by student enrollment, current course‑offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Selected candidates will report to the division chair. Salary is dependent on qualifications.

Wages

Adjunct Faculty are currently compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit‑hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26–$1,228.24 per credit hour.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in English or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in English or a related field.
  • At least three years of college‑level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
