This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, locatedin Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a Lecturer
I or II in Welding Technology. We areone of four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serveapproximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and Hopi Reservation. The city of Gallup has apopulation of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoorrecreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy,while maintaining a small-town feel.
UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ fulltime and part-time faculty members. Weare fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associatedegrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personalenrichment courses. UNM-Gallup servesmultiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

Lecturers at UNM-G have career advancement opportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty union collective bargaining agreement.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 27CH course load per year in the area of Welding Technology, maintain an active service record(as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings and execute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the division chair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicing inclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.
Minimum Qualifications- Earned industry recognized Welding-related certifications
- Demonstrated experience teaching Welding Technology at a community college or similar institution
- Demonstrated welding/metal fabrication experience
- Associate-level degree in Welding Technology or closely related field
- OSHA Certification
- NCCER Core Electrical Level 1 Certification
- Forklift Certification
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
