Position Summary
The University of New Mexico’s Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & Education Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face‑to‑face and/or online lower division courses (1000/2000 level) during Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 semesters in the following potential disciplines:
- ECED 1110 Child Growth, Development and Learning
- ECED 1115 Health, Safety, and Nutrition
- ECED 1120 Guiding Young Children
- ECED 1125 Assessment of Children and Evaluation of Programs
- ECED 1130 Family and Community Collaboration
- ECED 2110 Professionalism
- ECED 2115 Introduction to Language, Literacy, and Reading
- ECED 2120 Curriculum Development through Play:
Birth through Age 4 - ECED 2121 Curriculum Development through Play:
Birth through Age 4 Practicum - ECED 2130 Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Age 3 through Grade 3 - ECED 2131 Curriculum Development and Implementation:
Age 3 through Grade 3 Practicum
UNM Gallup is a two‑year branch campus of the University of New Mexico located approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque. The Liberal Arts & Education Division at UNM Gallup Branch is seeking a qualified temporary part‑time faculty member to teach lower division classes in the courses listed above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching, including meeting face‑to‑face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends, content delivery, assignment development, grading, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the division chair.
Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the division chair.
Wages
Adjunct Faculty are compensated on the basis of their credentials and credit hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 – $1,228.24 per credit hour.

September 15, 2025 for Spring 2026 Semester;
January 15, 2026 for Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 Semesters.
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field; and three years teaching experience in an early childhood setting or at the elementary education level
- PhD in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
- Three years university teaching experience
- Demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
