Position SummaryTemporary, part‑time faculty members will teach face‑to‑face undergraduate‑level physical activity, exercise, and/or wellness‑related classes in the Fall 2025, Spring, and Summer 2026 semesters. Courses may include:

Candidates should indicate on their cover letter their areas of interest, expertise, and experience. They may also propose new courses if their education and credentials support them. UNM Gallup instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they teach, including content delivery, assessment, grading, and reporting of grades.
Positions are contingent upon student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Selected candidates will report to the division chair.
SalaryAdjunct faculty are compensated on the basis of credentials and credit hour course loads. Salary range: $1,135.26 – $1,228.24 per credit hour.

- September 30, 2025 – for Spring 2026 Semester
- February 28, 2026 – for Summer 2026 Semester
Minimum Qualifications: Extensive knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of expertise, along with leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science, fitness management, or related degree
- Appropriate activity certification, as needed (see application instructions)
- American Red Cross CPR/Basic Life Support certification (can also be earned within 30 days of employment)
- Teaching experience preferred.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

These factors may include: 1. An Associate or Baccalaureate degree in physical education or related field;
2. Certification and/or advanced achievement in the content area and/or as a health fitness instructor from a credible national organization, board or accrediting body;
3. Professional performance, honors, awards, or significant recognition that indicates the individual’s level of discipline‑based content knowledge; or 4. Other demonstrated competencies and achievements relevant to the content of the course.
Applicants who are appointed to a UNM faculty position are required to provide an official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to initial employment with UNM.
