Peer Support Worker

Reporting to the Peer Support Supervisor provides peer-based recovery support to individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Using lived experience in recovery, the CPSW builds trust, promotes hope, and supports individuals in achieving their personal recovery goals. This position serves individuals who may have experienced homelessness, incarceration, or justice involvement and works collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support clients during crises and provide relapse-prevention assistance

Share lived experience appropriately to support hope and engagement.

Educate the participants on behavioral health, promoting healthy resources and daily skills training to provide the highest quality person-centered care.

Liaison with family, friends, partners, and outside resources to create a supportive environment and ensure continuity of care.

Participates in weekly clinical meetings and staffing.

Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development.

Provide services to both youth and adults across various treatment settings

Respond to emotional support crisis during nights, weekends, or on-call shifts

Familiarity with community resources, including mental health, social, financial, educational, housing, employment, childcare, and other support that may be required.

Facilitate peer-led groups and structured recovery activities.

May use personal vehicle to transport clients to:
Appointments, Recovery-related activities, Community resources

Provide assistance to Santa Fe Recovery programs as needed

Respond to community-based crisis calls as part of a mobile response.

Operate a company vehicle when responding to crisis situations.

Carry and manage the mobile crisis phone during assigned shifts.

Participate in on-call rotation, providing 24/7 coverage as scheduled.

Support de-escalation and connection to services during crises.

Maintain professional boundaries in the peer support role

Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner

Maintain availability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations

2. Cultural and diversity understanding and awareness

3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfort using mobile apps and web-based platforms.

4. Advanced knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality

5. Advanced knowledge of behaviors and emotions related to addiction

6. Advanced knowledge of community and referral resources for clients' diverse needs

7. Ability to analyze complex situations and make independent decisions

8. Ability to document accurately and maintain timely records.

9. Proficient use of standard office equipment and systems: phone, copier, the computer, including Microsoft Office, Word, and Outlook tools.

10. Critical thinking/problem solving

11. Ability to manage a variety of tasks and organize workload

12. Documents all client services in the Electronic Health Record

13. Maintain effective professional relationships with all levels within the organization

14. Familiarity with community resources, including mental health, social, financial, educational, housing, employment, childcare, and other support that may be required.

15. Ability to build rapport with clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid NM driver's license and clean driving record (Required)

2. Certified Peer Support Worker, Certified Youth Peer Support Specialist, or Certified Family Support Worker (Required)

3. Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to become certified)
