Registered Nurse - Infection Control CM
Navajo Area Indian Health Services administers health centers, and hospitals, providing health care to approximately 201,516 members of the Navajo Nation. The NAIHS is the primary provider of inpatient, ambulatory care, preventive and community health, and environmental health services for members of the Navajo Nation and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe. Explore the Navajo Nation
- Providing professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients;
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to react promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life saving procedures;
- Providing counseling, guidance and health instruction to patients; and
- Identifying disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
- Develops and coordinates the infection prevention and control program throughout the facility. Implements the program by formulating, establishing and evaluating policies and procedures relating to patient care infection control measures throughout the facility. Performs an annual risk assessment and evaluation of the existing Infection Control Plan and develops action plans from the prior year activities
- Develops and implements facility-wide infection prevention and control measures to protect patients, staff and visitors.
- Conducts rounds, discussing and monitoring infection control practices with staff; collects infection data from departments, maintaining records for each case; trains staff on implementation of infection control practices and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control.
- Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision

- Possess of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience-OR
- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing - Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
- Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as an infection control nurse during the last 36 months;
Certification in Infection Control a plus - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory for all specialties.
- Evidence of current immunizations is required
